The NEWTOWN CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION meets on the fourth Thursday each month. Established to stimulate, facilitate, coordinate, and cooperate with organizations already in existence for development of the arts, it serves as information center and focal point in our community for activities in the arts. Most recently, it has been put in charge of the HealingArts Center for healing of the Newtown Community post the great tragedy at S.H.E.S. Won't you join us in promoting the arts in Newtown.

Every year the Danbury Music Centre sponsors the endearing holiday classic, the Nutcracker Ballet with Tchaikovsky's music beautifully played by the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. This production is joined by over 200 dancers who have auditioned for parts, including many of our dancers from NCCB. The fully staged performance is produced under the artistic direction of Arthur Frederic and Lisa Denton.  The Nutcracker is held at Danbury High School to  sold out audiences every year. For the past ten years, the Malenkee Ballet Repertoire Company has presented a production of the "Nutcracker Suite" (a condensed version of the full-length ballet), as part of  the Newtown Youth & Family Services Annual Holiday Festival.  All  proceeds  from  this  yearly performance are donated to Newtown Youth & Family Services  in support of their dedication in providing valuable support services for the children and adults of our community. If you would like to know more about NYFS, kindly visit their website.

Artistic Director, Tory Gozzi, also runs a private voice studio in conjunction with NCCB. She holds her Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Belhaven University. She has been teaching for the past six years and also works as a regular cantor and director at the parishes of St. Marguerite and St. Joseph Churches in Brookfield.
